In honor of our National Independence Day, I introduced Marley and Dylan to the significance of the American Flag. We started out by watching a few episodes of Liberty's Kids
which is not 100% historically accurate (or so I've heard), but gives a good foundation for historical timing and the general idea behind the beginning of the USA. Children love these cartoons too! We made our own flags and discussed the symbolism of the flag. We also started memorizing some flags from other countries as well. Here is my lesson plan laid out:
